Aquamarine is crystal and there's no mistaking that with one look at its natural exterior facetry. As highly charged as an electrical storm, Aquamarine shocks you with its flash and at the same time, it's as delicate as a drop of water. You can see by these pictures what they do with a 10 watt light source.
Gemmy and sought after by carvers, the aquamarine is often carved to bits into a less than spectacular gemstone for a ring, earring or bracelet setting. I'm not saying this is wrong, necessarily, but to so mutilate a natural stone such as this, especially with its myriad of facetry expressed in tiny little triangles all over the surface as well as its interior matrix seems rude and thoughtless. I wouldn't go so far as to say, as others have, that the crystal has feelings about these things. But I do wish to point out that the aquamarine in its natural state, can do so much more for you than it can all carved and polished to bits. It's a communicative miracle, really while not being a miracle at all. These tools, if you will, were formulated for our use in honing our spiritual keenness, in elevating our thoughts to a higher intellectual level. No different than the tools of food to sustain our bodies and water to drink and clean ourselves with, they should be treated with the same regard. Someone once asked me quite innocently when I made a similar point... "You mean I should think of my crystal like a piece of apple pie or chocolate cake?" I laughed. "If you love apple pie and chocolate cake, yes. However, your crystal won't pile the cellulite on your hips like pie and cake will." There are advantages! My point here is simple. On this Earth, we are provided with the means to keep us alive and well. It's not out of the realm of probabilities that at the same time, we are provided with the means to achieve our spiritual best, the crystal accommodating that. And as there are that many different and unique human individuals, there are that many unique means to communicate through the crystal to one's highest expression. |
