Art is a thing I've been doing since I was a toddler. Yes, really. If my mother were alive she would regale you with tales of her daughter's precocious blah blah blah.... but since she isn't, my self promotions will have to do. Indeed, I drew my first recognizable sketch when I was not yet 2. It was a drawing of a woman in a hoop skirt. I don't remember drawing it, but I did see the crayon rendering some years later as Mother was cleaning out the attic. The drawing went the way of other insignificant little pieces of life... in a landfill somewhere. I do wish I had it still, as it would be an interesting piece to publish here. The drawing was quite crude and shaky, but definitely more than a stick figure with dots for eyes and a thin line mouth. It was easy to see the struggle my chubby little fingers had with the great folds and winnowing of the skirt fabric over the hoop. I remember drawing other subjects later on, and I remember especially the great inner satisfaction of doing it, of getting better each time I tried something new. The pieces featured here are just a few of the sentimental journeys I've taken into an earlier time. Fascinated with old architecture and fashion, I still pursue the earliest subject of my career....

Old Mission Lighthouse
This is line art strictly. The representation of it here is from a digital pic of it framed and ready for its owner.

Old Fishtown
Line and marker art. Fishtown is in a charming little fishing village on the Lake Michigan shoreline, Leland. Every area artist does Fishtown renderings. While still quaint, it was more quaint in 1890 as I depicted in my art.

Ella Sharp Farm
Museum
Line and Marker art. This is an exquisite old farm home that was inherited by the city of Jackson, now a museum.

Bridge in Brooklyn
That's Brooklyn, Michigan, another quaint charming village, utterly overrun with MIS touristas now. Line and marker.

Tuma's On Torch
This is about the only time line art doesn't do justice to the surroundings. On Torch Lake which is an incredible turquoise, the restaurant is in an old house in Alden, MI.

The Gillett Farm
A pen and ink rendering of a typical July 4th Celebration on the family farm.
